About the Course

The Diploma in Healthcare Ethics & Professionalism is a collaboration between the Bioethics Department of Shalamar Medical & Dental College and the LUMS Learning Institute (LLI) to address basic healthcare ethics and professionalism issues.

This one-year diploma is UHS-Approved and tackles challenges today's healthcare professionals face, covering clinical ethics, research ethics, leadership, and professionalism. This unique curriculum brings together the expertise of doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, ethics committee members, policymakers, researchers, and hospital administrators to develop professional competencies, ethical practices, and policies in Research, Education, and Clinical Practice.

In case the participants are unable to complete the diploma requirements during the first year, they are offered the DHEP Phase 2 to support their progress and professional development.

Registration & Selection Process

The registration process is the same as last year's:

1) Participants must register to DHEP (Fall 2024 Phase 2) online through the 'Register' button on the right and fill out a one-page form.
2) Once registered, please download the fee voucher from the student portal.
3) Once the fee is paid, the participants will receive a final notification of admission to the DHEP program.

Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:
a) A passport-sized photograph (small than 2MB) for the smartcard. It should be against a white background.
b) Correct CNIC details.

Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead to cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Payment for the Course

Once you have received the fee voucher for the program, you may proceed to the payment section. You have three options for lumpsum payment:

1) Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system: https://pay.lums.edu.pk
2) Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.
3) Pay through your online banking app using the 1Bill option. Please refer to the voucher for more information.

Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

Refund Policy:

Participants are eligible for a 75% refund if a request is submitted at least two weeks prior to the commencement of DHEP classes. Once the classes have started, no refunds will be issued. However, participants may opt to defer their enrollment to the next DHEP session, subject to availability and scheduling.

Course Outline

Note: LLI may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.
